In honour of Daystar University founders, the University through the leadership of the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro has established a burial site in Athi River campus, and named it the Heroes Corner.

Dotted with green grass and trees, the Heroes’ Corner, which was created in 2022 is a serene site at a strategic corner on the expansive main campus in Athi RiverThe motivation behind the establishment of the Heroes’ Corner was to honor great men and woman who laid the foundation of Daystar University. The Founding Vice-chancellor, Prof. Stephen E.J.L Talitwala, who developed the Athi River Campus from scratch, was the first to be laid to rest in the Heroes Corner in March 2023, followed by Mrs. Faye Smith in October 2023. Earlier on in September 2021, the founding Company Chair, Dr. James Mageria, was buried at his ancestral home in Burguret, Nanyuki.

Other Daystar founders include Prof. Donald Smith who bore the original vision of what would later become Daystar University, the late Dr. James Mageria who was the first Chairman of the Afro-Asian Board and later Daystar Company Limited, and Dr. James Kamunge, the first Chancellor of the University after the Charter was granted by the Government of Kenya. Just like the mustard seed in the Bible, these eminent men and woman are credited for sowing the seeds of faith in their various capacities, that grew to become the Daystar University as we know it today, laying a firm foundation that has stood the test of time
